The new Wendy's location at 881 East Pulaski Highway in Elkton will hold a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Mar. 22. The first 100 guests in line when the restaurant opens at 10:30 a.m. will win one free sandwich, salad, or breakfast item every week for a year.

The restaurant, operated by Flynn Group LP, officially opened on Wednesday, Feb. 19. It features a modern, updated design with open dining areas and a Coca-Cola Freestyle beverage dispenser for customized drink options.

Flynn Group, Wendy's largest franchisee, operates 86 Maryland locations, including Aberdeen, Bel Air, Edgewood, Joppatowne, and North East.

"Flynn Group is excited to officially bring the Wendy's dining experience to Elkton," said marketing vice president Jerrod Mitchell. "As a leader in the food service industry, Flynn Group views each of our new locations as an investment to the communities we serve. We look forward to delivering quality food and impeccable customer service to our new and returning guests in Cecil County."

To claim the free food deal, guests must be at least 16 years old, make a purchase, and be one of the first 100 in line when the restaurant opens. Each winner will receive a card valid for one free sandwich, salad, or breakfast item per week for a year at the Elkton location, with a limit of one card per person.

The 3,066-square-foot restaurant in a former Hardee's location is bringing 45 jobs to the local economy, according to Flynn Group.

The Wendy's in Elkton is open from 6 a.m. to midnight Sundays through Thursdays, and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
